“The band have shown an ability to produce something special in ‘She was born in Bahia’, and with some exciting reviews about their on-stage performances we’re looking forward to hearing more!”
London on the Inside
Indie rock band from Gothenburg, Sweden, The Shy Lips are back with another slice of infectious and energetic rock n’ roll in the form of their new single ‘Bahia Part II’.
Their 2014 single, ‘She Was Born in Bahia’ was described by Jungle Indie Rock as, “funny, fresh, very easy listening and that kind of summer song that makes you happy”. It’s a perfect description of the songs these guys write – immediately engaging yet edgy, they channel influences from some of the greatest rock’n’rollers of the 20th century – yet retain their own unmistakeable sound. They’re a joy to see live – passionate about their music, the band are always stylish, yet raw and energetic.
The Shy Lips were formed in early 2012 as the brainchild of singer  Adam Benrahmoun Johansson and bassist Victor Pettersson during travels in Europe and South America. The Shy Lips became a reality when the pair recruited Alexander Lisinski and Anton Ekedahl in the vibrant music city of Gothenburg. After just six months as a band, The Shy Lips had their first EP out on the streets and were receiving attention and praise from the blogosphere. Their second EP ‘Nowadays; has been aired on national radio as well as on web stations over Europe and other parts of the world. They were playing the biggest clubs in Gothenburg.
Bahia Part II has shades of the 60s crossed with garage rock and the blues. Adam Johansson’s vocals take the over from the energetic guitar and beats leading us into a happy reverie and an earwormingly-infectious chorus. It’s a song that will remain in your brain and that’s not a bad thing. We think The Shy Lips have got it – and tend to agree with Adam when he says,
“it’s all about keeping it simple, so simple it gets hard to understand what the thing is. You just know The Shy Lips got it…”
