Introducing: Mariann Rosa

Mariann Rosa1

Mariann Rosa is already a household name in her native Norway, having been a judge on the Norwegian version of ‘Idol’ and fronted thrash power pop band Surferosa, who supported The Killers on tour.

Now the quirky vocalist and DJ is ready to release her debut Sci-Fi Pop single ‘Banjo For My Bitches’ as she brings her own unique blend of colourful style and sound to the UK this summer.

As well as powerful vocals, Mariann has an extraordinary flamboyant style, which has made her instantly recognisable across Europe and Asia, and awarded her the title of Best Dressed Norwegian Artist. Mariann even has her very own room displaying her costumes and work in the Norwegian Museum of Popular Music.

‘Banjo For My Bitches’, which is due for release on 6th July, was remixed by Cato Canari and fuses electro beats across an infectious dance melody that is certain to set fire to many a dance floor.

Currently living in London working on a new EP due to be released later this year, you can see Mariann DJ’ing and playing a few select live shows next month:

Wed 13th May LONDON – The Monarch – Camden – 8.45pm

Fri 15th May BRIGHTON – Great Escape – The Black Lion – 2pm

About the author

There’s a lot of music out there - good music. At Essentially Pop our remit is that we cover music that deserves to be heard, with a particular focus on independent artists. That doesn't mean we won't cover your old favourites - rather we hope to give you some new favourites as well.

We no longer accept unpaid PR agency work. We believe the creative arts have value, and this includes writing. As always, we will write about artists who contact us - or who we contact - for free - but we can no longer work free of charge for PR agencies. We work hard, we put in a lot of hours writing, and we ask that you respect that. Contact us for our very reasonable rates.
