Ahead of World Refugee Day this Friday, pop star and refugee SHAB has shared a powerful message of hope for the people of Iran during these difficult times.
SHAB, who fled the Iranian Revolution as a young teenager and started a new life in America, continues to advocate fearlessly for women’s rights in her home country.
Speaking in her native language and sharing her message from the U.S., the star reflects on conversations with family members in Iran and four decades of suffering. She compassionately reassures the nation that “Our hearts are with you.”
“Know that the world stands with the Persian people and not with the gangster regime,” she states proudly. “We hope that you can use this time to rise and bring Iran back to a world of freedom and light. I love you with all of my being, and we are all with you.”
In addition to her musical endeavors, SHAB was recently chosen as an ambassador for the refugee charity Choose Love, which has previously been endorsed by high-profile supporters such as Harry Styles, Julia Roberts, Oprah Winfrey, and Olivia Colman, to name a few. Inspired by her story of arriving in New York completely alone with a single-harried suitcase, SHAB’s journey of overcoming unimaginable hardship to pursue pop stardom is nothing short of remarkable.
She is now a leading voice in the entertainment industry for women’s rights and continues to share her incredible story – something that is more timely than ever amidst ongoing conflicts – on platforms like Fox 13 Live, ensuring it reaches a wide audience.
In an inspiring effort, SHAB donated the proceeds from her album “One Suitcase” to Choose Love, aligning with its themes of perseverance, independence, and the celebration of femininity.
She is set to embrace this expression of womanhood further with the upcoming single, taken from One Suitcase – “Dance ‘Til You’re Free” – a display of freedom that she has relentlessly fought for throughout her life.
