Set for release this Friday, July 14, ‘Hypnotised’ is the debut EP from London-based artist, Yusta. The EP is the follow up to her retro-sounding debut single, ‘Bad Illusion’, released earlier this year, which also features on the new record.
Yusta had made a career of performing disco covers, but a year ago she realised she could write her own songs, resulting in the ‘Hypnotised’ project.
Working in the studio with producer Spiros, Yusta spent several weeks bringing about the EP, which is jam-packed with nostalgia, from the 80s-style soundscapes, catchy melodies, and ethereal harmonies. The four track EP, which was mastered by Jacques Jenkins, ranges in style from the EDM-tinged opener, ‘Lie To Me’, the 80s dance single, ‘Bad Illusion’, the ABBA-esque ‘One Night’, and ending with the fiery bassline of ‘Summer’ (our favourite!).
All in all, there’s something for everyone in ‘Hypnotised’ and you’ll be guaranteed to be dancing from beginning to end!
Based in London, Yusta started on her musical journey when she took a singing course at Point Blank music school, honing her vocal skills, and revealing her passion for songwriting. On graduation she joined the band Good Company, where she showcased her vocal range and ability to connect with listeners with her covers.
The next stage of Yusta’s career saw her collaborate with established musicians to further hone her craft, such as London-based Swedish singer songwriter, Malin Andersson, with whom she worked on the first of her compositions, and Luke Black, also based in London, who represented Serbia at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
Furthermore, Yusta began her collaboration with music producer Spiros in January last year, and the pair worked together to blend her Yusta’s love for 80s music with modern pop sensibilities.
‘Hypnotised’ is out this Friday, 14 July, and is available to pre-save here. You can find out more about Yusta and her music online on Instagram, Facebook, Spotify, and Apple Music.
