RUMI – ‘Moi’

Making her debut on March 31st is RUMI, otherwise known as Julianne Murray. The Irish singer/songwriter introduces herself wonderfully with ‘Moi,’ a melodic blend of electro and alt-pop stylings.

She takes inspiration from a plethora of genres – electro-pop, nostalgic dance beats and alternative rock. Having worked on her distinctive vibe at the Limerick Institute Of Technology, 2019 is set to take her music further into the spotlight.

‘Moi’ is a great place to start. With its synth-led focus and electronically charged dynamics, the song packs some neat groove throughout. RUMI reflects:

“Moi, as a song is a bit different to what I had been doing in the past. I got much more dance-y with it; I had been listening to a lot of Mall Grab and Toro Y Moi at the time. (Hence the name!) To me the song sounds dreamy but with funky punches; it’s something you can stick on when you’re socializing with friends or on a night-time car journey.

I wrote it with the feeling in mind of when you go out and see that person you oh-so desire across the room and your heart flutters – I wanted to recreate that feeling of excitement; and I’m happy to say I think it does; When I sing it live it gets a really killer response.”

Alongside the track comes a vividly shot official video, which emphasises the fun, interactive element to ‘Moi’ perfectly.
