The Stockholm-based songstress, Elsa Carmona, has announced her introductory single ‘Ritual’, released today, November 11.

Written and produced with Fredrik Okazaki (best known for working with Robyn, and Seinabo Sey), this spiritual, electro-infused track sees Elsa exploring a dark, melancholic pop sound. The deep, booming synths and alluring beats create a contemporary cosmic anthem with Elsa’s seductive vocals taking centre stage.

Elsa was born and raised in Barcelona, the emerging singer/songwriter later moving to Sweden where she vowed to devote herself fully to music and first graced the scene under the name Sirena, the Spanish word for “mermaid:.

Elsa explained to ‘The Line of Best Fit’, the reasons behind her change in identity:

“I used “Sirena” to explore a radio-friendly, dream-pop aesthetic. My taste has changed since then, and the music I’m making now is darker and rawer than what I was into before. It just feels right to use my real name for this.”

Inspired by the creative and natural world around her, Sirena soon caught the attention of online tastemakers with her early single ‘Chemicals’, which was remixed by Italian producer Addal, and featured on her 2015 debut EP Hearts, along with singles ‘Lunar Lights’ and ‘You Are The Shore’.

Also tipped by the likes of The Guardian and Wonderland, Sirena’s mesmerising vocals impressed Scandinavian producer and DJ Alesso who then collaborated with her on his acclaimed single ‘Sweet Escape’.

Now returning to the scene with new music, a new identity, and a fresh creative direction Elsa Carmona is ready to ignite music fans across the globe with her revamped, unique twist on Swedish synth-pop.
