The April Maze are indie duo Todd Mayhew and Sivan Agam. The pair formed 7 years ago in Melbourne and leapt into the spotlight in 2012 when their second album, ‘Two’, a collection of stripped back covers went global, gaining 70,000 plays in the first week of release and featuring in the top 100 favourite new releases on Spotify, alongside Lana Del Ray & Birdy.
Having conquered Britain with rave reviews, national airplay and sell out shows, the duo have secured London-based management, and are now taking their music to the next level, as they prepare to release their third studio album ‘Sleeping Storm‘ later this year.Â
With their beautiful harmonies and roots firmly planted in folk music, ‘Sleeping Storm’ has more of prog-rock feel than ‘Two’. Chelloist Sivan’s soulful folk vocals have been likened to Cass Elliott, whilst Todd’s impassioned vocals and spirited banjo and guitar playing, gives their music a sound reminiscent of the streets of 70s San Francisco.Â
‘Sleeping Storm’ was produced by Tim Carr, who has worked with Matt Corby, Gurrumul, Mark Ronson, JayZ, and Flea, at 301 Studios Sydney, and was crowd-funded by dedicated fans of the duo.
‘Sleeping Storm’ by The April Maze is due to be released on 4th May.
