Ed Sheeran Sees Fire On Soundtrack

If you’ve seen the sequel to ‘The Hobbit’, ‘The Desolation of Smaug’, you’ll no doubt already know that the song over the final credits is by Ed Sheeran.



Ed has always been a fan of Tolkien, and said, “It was such an honour working with Peter Jackson on this song. Not only is he one of my favourite directors of my favourite films, ‘The Hobbit’ was the first book I ever read as a child, so it means a lot that I get to produce music for the motion picture.

If you’ve seen the sequel to “The Hobbit”, “The Desolation of Smaug”, you’ll no doubt already know that the song over the final credits is by Ed Sheeran.

“I was allowed complete freedom to create what I thought was fitting for the film, which is very rare, and Peter, Fran (Walsh) and Philippa (Boyens) were always on hand to give notes and pointers. The entire team down in New Zealand was out of this world.

“The film is amazing! I’m still geeking out that I’ve done a song for a Peter Jackson film set in Middle-Earth!”

Sheeran’s song, ‘I See Fire’, is on the film’s official soundtrack, released on December 10 last year. It’s not going to be on his follow up album to “+” though. Cryptically, Ed tweeted on 13 January “=” – is this a sign of what the sequel will be called?
