Alt-Rock Trio Desert Mountain Tribe Return With Surging Second Album

The album, ‘Om Parvat Mystery’, is named after an ancient holy mountain in the Himalayas. On a recent radio appearance, the band also joked that it was because making the album had been an uphill struggle, with half being recorded in the UK and half in the Faroe Islands.

Joan Torres is the bassist and composer of jazz fusion ensemble All Is Fused, which he has led since 2011. Together they have released 3 albums and been nominated for various awards, including the Vox Pop award in the Fusion Album category, which they won at the 14th Annual Independent Music Awards, 2016. Their most recent album, ‘Of The Musical’, has this year seen them nominated at the IMAs in three separate categories: best Funk/Fusion/Jam, best Jazz album, and their track ‘Demiurge’ has received a nomination for best music producer in the jazz category.

Jim and Julie are on vacation and Julie develops a fascination with Thai “Ghost Houses”, believed to house the spirits of the dead. They meet two English men who take them to a “Ghost House” graveyard; a place where all the “Ghost Houses” are abandoned and left untouched. Julie quickly develops strange symptoms and Jim embarks on a whirlwind journey to cure her of whatever is afflicting her. It takes them and their Thai companion, Go-Go on a trek deep into the spiritual world of rural Thailand. It’s a race against time, against evil claiming the soul of Julie.

The new album from Tim Muddiman & The Strange, ‘Domino Blitz’ feels like it draws something from Bowie’s ‘Diamond Dogs’. There’s a distinctly dystopian vibe to the twelve track record, the follow up to Tim’s 2016 debut, ‘Paradise Runs Deeper’. It’s dark and deep, and moody, but it’s what you might expect from Muddiman if you’re familiar with his previous releases.
