If you’re of a certain age, you’ll hear the name, Rickie Lee Jones, and instantly have ‘Chuck E’s In Love’ running through your head. It’s crazy to think that song is 40 years old, but it’s as bright and fresh today as it was back then. Rickie Lee is also as bright and fresh as she was too, with her new album, ‘Kicks’, set for release on June 28. The first track, ‘Lonely People’, is out now.

The nineties was an eclectic period of music history, with the emergence of grunge and Britpop, and the continued growth of urban music and hip-hop. But one genre undoubtedly dominated the UK charts from 1990-1999, where nine out of ten artists who spent the most weeks at number one were pop groups or pop acts, and 12 out of 14 of artists with the most number ones in that decade hailed from the same category. Pop music, not to be confused with the sixties-punk sound inherited by Britpop, was a force to be reckoned with.

US Artist Jared Dylan Marks Move To Ireland With New Release ‘Can’t Stop’ On 16 March

With a library of hundreds of original compositions, and over a million streams on Spotify, 23 year old New Jersey native Jared Dylan has certainly been making a name for himself in his home country. He’s expanding his horizons further this year, with a move to Ireland where he will work with Irish musicians and producers, while at the same time releasing music and touring the island.

Jared’s first Irish release, ‘Can’t Stop’, is out this Friday, March 16, ahead of his EP, due this summer.

Overlord Are Shooting For The Stars With New Track ‘Mission To Mars’

There’s a fine tradition in pop music singing about journeys to the stars – Elton John had ‘Rocketman’, David Bowie had quite a few, including ‘Starman’ and ‘Space Oddity’, and Irish duo Jedward sang about their ‘Pop Rocket’ which was shooting straight for the stars. Now Brooklyn band Overlord join the star bound set with their song, ‘Mission To Mars’, the lead track from their new album, ‘The Well-Tempered Overlord’, which is set for release on September 9.
