Fresh off the release of his electrifying new single, ‘Umada’, featuring producer Manuel Riva, rising UK Afrobeats star Great Adamz is heading into the mainstream – from chart-topping hits to viral Twitter moments over an iconic fashion choice on the star-studded red carpet at the MOBO Awards 2026.
Currently positioned at No.1 on Music Week’s Black Music Chart with his hit single ‘Jeje’, Adamz’s vibrant Afrobeats style continues to dominate the scene, with each release reaching new heights of momentum and success. Blending emotional depth with captivating vocals and club-ready soundscapes, his catalogue has resonated far and wide, with his recent album ‘Blessed Boy’ surpassing an impressive 5 million streams.
And it’s not just the airwaves he’s claiming – now, it’s the shimmer of the red carpet. The star is part of the MOBO Awards alumni, having been listed in the prestigious MOBO Unsung Class of 2022, where he collaborated on a collective album alongside rising stars like Craw Wolf and Zitah – leading to one of his biggest records to date, ‘Kilon So’.
The Afrobeats star didn’t just attend the 2026 ceremony, blending in with a host of major names and performers like Olivia Dean, Aitch, Myles Smith and FLO. Instead, he made a unique and striking impression that established him as one of the most talked-about attendees online from the ceremony in his own right.
Symbolising a glowing full-circle moment for Adamz, it was his crystal-embellished, gemstone-detailed jacket that stole the spotlight. Styled effortlessly with a monochrome suit and layered chains, the chic look delivered a bold fashion statement, earning an outpouring of admiration from fans and media alike.

“The award show was amazing,” Adamz shared, reflecting on the experience. “Firstly, it was great to see familiar faces and friends,” he added, nodding to his prominence within the MOBOS community.
“But I must admit everyone was looking great. I pulled up to the red carpet and couldn’t believe the attention my jacket was getting. People came up to me and told me how much they loved it and asked what the gemstones cost. I said it was a secret. It didn’t take long for blogs to estimate the cost online, and the next thing I knew, I got a call saying, ‘Your jacket is trending on X and is currently the second most talked-about topic.’ I couldn’t believe it. I love to dress to impress and stand out, but I didn’t expect to be trending online for sure!”
While the MOBOs took place in the UK and Adamz sparked national attention, the impact of his look reached overseas, proving to be an unexpected turn for the artist. “I just got a national TV station in Nigeria calling me for an interview about my jacket lol this is funny as hell. The jacket is officially a celebrity!”
It was clearly a standout celebration overall, with the artist getting to witness some of his favourite performers. “Overall, it was a great night! I saw Tiwa Savage perform, Chip, and Wiley – it was amazing.”
Beyond his now-celebrated sense of style, the MOBOS served as the perfect icing on the cake for a defining moment in the Afrobeats star’s rapidly growing career. With bold collaborations, chart success, performances at events like Latitude Festival’s BBC Introducing Stage, and a growing cultural impact on the genre and beyond – he’s a name that glints like a gemstone, destined for rising stardom.
