On Friday the 4th October, the boys of New Hope Club – Blake, Reece and George – treated their London fans to an astonishing sold out performance at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire.
Before the main act performed in front of their adoring fans, support acts Denis Coleman, and The Tyne had to be sure that the crowd were warmed up. Denis was the first to wow the audience with his energetic performance that the fans went crazy for! The Tyne were up next. Although have only been together for 2 months, you would think they have been doing this forever! The Tyne are certainly a band worth keeping an eye on.
The moment everyone was waiting for finally came when New Hope Club approached the stage to 2000 screaming fans dying to see them. They opened with fan favourite, ‘Medicine’. The screams were so deafening, it was a wonder you could hear the boys perform at all! The trio sung a good range of everyone’s favourite original songs including, ‘Perfume’, ‘Karma’, and ‘Love Again’. Alongside this, they performed covers of Billie Eilish’s huge hit, ‘Bad Guy’, and the parents were pleased to hear The Beatles cover of ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’.
Friday was a massive day for New Hope Club. Not only was this show the biggest show they have ever headlined, it was also the band’s 4th Birthday. In celebration, they released their brand new single ‘You Know Me Too Well’, a song which features the stunning Mexican singer and actress Danna Paola. As this was such a special show for the band and the whole New Hope Club fandom, they surprised the crowd by bringing Danna to perform the song with them on stage! Everybody went wild with this unexpected surprise! This single has just been released and can now be streamed on Spotify.
New Hope Club sang hit after hit and their performance was truly something else. What made the experience even greater however was the atmosphere of the crowd. New Hope Club are incredibly lucky to have such a supportive fanbase. The love that the audience had for them was glowing in the room that night.
During their performance of the classic Mud track, ‘Tiger Feet’, which they recorded for the soundtrack of Aardman Animations film, ‘Early Man‘, the audience started what can only be described as the fastest conga that anyone has ever seen! Most people joined in and the ones that didn’t, stood and watched from the side lines just happy to be a part of the New Hope Club community. There were many emotional moments. During ‘Perfume’, members of the audience held up small banners that expressed their love for the boys. It was a beautiful surprise shared between fans and band. Fair to say that quite a lot of tears that were shed!
Finally, the concert drew to a close as they sang their last song ‘Permission’, and the show definitely ended with a bang! As fans exited the building, it was hard to find even one person without a smile on their face! Everything about this show was the perfect way to celebrate the band’s success over the past 4 years.
