It is six years since you appeared on The X Factor. Why did you wait\u00a0so long to release music?<\/strong><\/p>\n I got offered the chance to record a covers album straight after the X\u00a0Factor, but I wanted to wait until I could find a deal that allowed to\u00a0do what I wanted to do.<\/p>\n In between you have been crowned Queen of the Jungle and more recently\u00a0you appeared on The Jump. You have also experienced success as a TV\u00a0presenter, while most recently you made a cameo voice appearance in\u00a0Spongebob Squarepants. Did you ever worry that you would not return to\u00a0music?<\/strong><\/p>\n I have been so lucky with the opportunities I have been given. I\u00a0learnt while I was on The X Factor to live every moment and I have\u00a0been doing that since. I always knew I would make an album, I just\u00a0wanted to wait until the right opportunity came along.<\/p>\n Your debut album is called Shy (out on 20 April). Is there anything\u00a0autobiographical in the lyrics?<\/strong><\/p>\n I have spent the last couple of years working on this album. The\u00a0record company have been great. They have allowed me to do what I want\u00a0and spend as much time in the studio as I needed. I wrote over half\u00a0the album, so it really depended what day it was as to what I wrote.\u00a0It was the best therapy ever.<\/p>\n How was working with Rita Ora, Duffy and Lily Allen?\u00a0 Can you tell us\u00a0any exclusive anecdote about your collaboration with these artists?<\/strong><\/p>\n Unfortunately I didn\u2019t get to write with them. They wrote songs and\u00a0offered them to me for the album, which was a real honour. I am so\u00a0thankful to them. I am so excited! I would love to write with them\u00a0though.<\/p>\n When producing a music album how much personal input do you put in?<\/strong><\/p>\n I waited for a record company to offer me a deal that allowed me to\u00a0create the record I wanted to.<\/p>\n Do you write your own songs too? How is the song-writing process? What\u00a0is the starting point? What sparks the first idea for a song?<\/strong><\/p>\n It depends on the day. It just goes on how you are feeling. When I\u00a0first went into the studio I was worried about having nothing to say,\u00a0but when I started it just happened naturally. The words just come.\u00a0Looking back at the songs, you can tell if I was having a good day or\u00a0a bad day.<\/p>\n What do your children say about your job?<\/strong><\/p>\n They don\u2019t really realise what it is that I do. They know that I sing\u00a0and that I am on television, but they just think that is normal. Some\u00a0people are on TV and others aren\u2019t. They think it\u2019s just the same as\u00a0Spongebob being on TV.<\/p>\n Are your children musical?<\/strong><\/p>\n They love to sing. They are tone deaf at the moment, but they love to\u00a0sing so much.<\/p>\n Would you like them to follow your career choices?<\/strong><\/p>\n I am happy as long as they are happy. I don’t care if they are van\u00a0drives, doctors or singers.<\/p>\n Who is a showbiz personality you have worked with who have made you\u00a0laugh the most?<\/strong><\/p>\n Leigh Francis. I love him.
