Rose Wade’s voice brings with it all the control of someone who has spent years singing across a range of settings – from choirs and classical work, to theatre and the studio. While her voice is polished, there’s an emotional directness to it that keeps her performance grounded. With ‘Know You Like I Do’, her vocal is fully present, front and centre, laid over a sparkling piano arrangement, and a cinematic production. Written by Dan Voss Jr. and Aaron Zepeda, and arranged by Jody Cortez and Daniel Whitfield and produced by Cortez, Whitfield and Voss, ‘Know You Like I Do’ was recorded at Studio City Sound in North Hollywood, with Tom Weir engineering and mixing. The lyrics open with a phone call, a partner laughing, and from there everything that has gone wrong is lade bare. Wade moves through blame, secrecy and love given without reciprocation before she arrives at the song\u2019s central revelation: that those on the outside only know part of the truth of the person she’s known intimately. The title is turned to something more than just heartbreak with the line, \u201cThey\u2019re feeling sorry only knowing half the truth\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Directed by Dan Voss Jr. and Michelle Voss Ortez, the music video for ‘Know You Like I Do’ keeps the focus in exactly the same manner as the song – on Rose Wade herself. The clip is performance-centred, and keeps her always in the spotlight, allowing the viewer to register the deeper meaning of the lyrics through her expressions and delivery. The track serves as an open door for Wade, allowing her to show another side of a voice that’s already been shaped by classical training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
