Rebekah Snyder’s songs have always been honest and reflective, as she turns her own story into something that others can see themselves in, while at the same time, helping herself to make sense of how things are. Her single, ‘The Fiddle Player Stays’, is another of her tracks that she’s written about from a real life experience.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

While Snyder was preparing for a solo set at an open stage night at a local country bar, an Appalachian band, Possum and the Rails, had an unexpected crisis, when their lead singer had fallen ill. The group’s fiddle player was now at a loose end, and so Rebekah seized the opportunity and asked them to join her onstage. Their spur of the moment performance went down so well with the patrons that Snyder later jokingly posted on her social media, \u201cLast night I stole a fiddle player from a band of outlaws\u201d – that line later re-appearing as the first line of ‘The Fiddle Player Stays’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘The Fiddle Player Stays’, produced by Dean Miller, in Nashville, brings with it all the trappings of a traditional country track – acoustic guitar, fiddle, and a storytelling vocal performance that’s raw yet purposeful, shaped by Snyder’s Appalachian upbringing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The music video for ‘The Fiddle Player Stays’ sees Snyder re-enacting the story – in a way. In the real life story saw the band’s singer the next day demanded that Snyder return his fiddle player, only for her to refuse, with a wink. In the clip however it’s slightly more sinister, with the singer an outlaw, and somewhat threatening in his demands. The video plays out with scenes of Snyder performing on stage with her band, line-dancers, and the rogue fiddle player. It’s an irresistible romp, and we defy anyone to remain in their seats when the fiddle player breaks into his solo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
