Following our review of Reachel Singh<\/a>‘s new release, ‘Om Bhur Bhuvah Swaha<\/a>‘, we caught up with her and found out what inspires her.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Your music encourages people to slow down and be present. What do you hope listeners feel when they hear your songs?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m not sure if my music encourages people just to slow down, but it definitely invites us to be present. I think we can move in any direction, and all are valid. Sometimes with intensity and speed, sometimes slowly and steadily. Either way, presence is key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I trust that those who listen will receive the music in their own way. Children will dance and sing, whilst parents meditate and do yoga to this music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My intention is simple: enjoy it in whatever way feels right for you. Don\u2019t try to think about whether you understand it or know its meaning. Simply receive the sounds, let the mind rest, and allow the heart to open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Growing up with both Indian and Dutch influences, how has that shaped your music?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It definitely gave me a very open and accepting perspective on life, people, religion, and culture. My grandparents were Protestant Christians, and my mother celebrated Diwali with us, the Hindu festival of light. I went to a Christian school. I always loved singing the songs in church and watching and dancing to Bollywood movies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It showed me from a very young age that, to connect to something higher, people use sound and prayer. This is not something secular or reserved for a specific group of people. It is universal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did you approach bringing an ancient mantra into a modern recording?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was no how; it simply wanted to happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you\u2019re in flow, you\u2019re not thinking, now this and now that. You allow your heart to speak, the moment to take you, and a deeper current to simply do its thing through you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I started singing mantra regularly in circles and at home. I learned the pronunciation and the meanings behind them, and it was almost as if these mantras decided for themselves that they wanted to be part of this album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I look at them all together, they represent Light and creative energy. The mantras that are coming later in the album are very much about awakening the divine feminine, which I feel is a very important part of our conscious evolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Was recording \u201cOm Bhur Bhuvah Swaha\u201d different from recording your other songs?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can say this one took a lot less time than most of the others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was also a song that Vinay and I created completely in the moment. Most of the other songs were pieces I had already written and then started to co-write with Vinay, or pieces he had already been working on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This one was created from the combination of our energies together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking back on the last three years, what stands out most about making this album with Vinay?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We started off as strangers, and now I feel like I\u2019ve known Vinay for many lifetimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a bond that is quite rare to find; a combination of real depth, a lot of laughter, and values that are deeply aligned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can honestly say I\u2019ve learned so much from recording in the studio with Vinay. My vocal technique has grown, my sensitivity to presence has deepened, and I\u2019ve learned how important it is to be conscious of where we\u2019re creating from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We don\u2019t just press record. We check in with each other. We create with deep intention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You performed \u201cKintsugi\u201d in Times Square before these new songs were released. What was that experience like?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Times Square is one of the craziest places in the world to share songs like these.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I could see how, even in Times Square, music has a way of uniting people and even bringing inner silence to a crowd of thousands from all walks of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love interacting with the audience, and hearing everyone sing \u201call will heal when we look inside\u201d together was incredibly powerful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The video has a simple and natural feel. Why was that the right approach for this song?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Less is more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This specific mantra already holds such profound energy that there was no need to add anything more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was quite a spontaneous decision to film the video in Central Park with Bruno Calvis, who did an incredible job filming and editing it. It was the morning after my Earth Day concert in Times Square.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How important is it to work with people who share your values and vision?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When people share the same values, the relationship can truly last.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can always move through moments of discomfort, but when you can rest in something you both understand and always come back to that place, it becomes a very strong foundation for creating and building together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As these songs reach more people, what do you hope they take away from them?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t think too much about the meaning or the language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let go of trying to understand. Sometimes sacred sound is more powerful the less we know, that\u2019s what I believe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An innocent mind and an open heart are often more receptive than an intellectual mind trying to understand everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simply let the sounds wash over you, and allow them to bring rest to your mind, body, and soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next release is called Warrior, and it comes out on the 14th of August. It\u2019s about embracing the fight with our own ego and limitations, so we can become greater beacons of Light for the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve walked a deep journey of self-discovery and self-reclamation, and that journey is channelled through this song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are all Leaders of the Light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are all warriors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
