The Nashville-based singer first broke through with a viral America’s Got Talent audition that earned two standing ovations, then found an entirely new audience when his original song ‘Who I Am’ turned up in Amazon’s I Am: Celine Dion, soundtracking one of the documentary’s most emotional moments as Dion sang along to it herself. Now, with his sophomore album on the way, Starks returns with ‘Coco’, an afro-fusion-driven single about carrying strength you didn’t ask for and refusing to shrink because of it.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n


The visual opens with Starks seated against a deep blue backdrop, irregular flashes of light flickering behind him like lightning through clouds. It’s a quiet, contained image, and it holds for the entire first verse before the chorus arrives and changes everything: Starks becomes a silhouette, his outline filled with drifting cloud instead of a body. From there, the video breaks open into hot pink and streaks of blue and yellow, with Starks moving freely as the camera circles around him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
