With its dreamy piano, and full bodied bass, Divergent<\/a>‘s ‘I Really Want To Love You (So Bad)’, at first feels like a classic love song, but it’s not long before they make it clear it’s so much more than that.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The cymbal splashes are super satisfying, and the beat is so laid back you might feel like you’re being lulled gently to sleep, but Divergent don’t let you rest too long, with lyrics that leave the listener in no doubt that they are singing more than just pure longing – while they’re completely lovestruck, they know it’s not going to happen. Despite his feelings being all-consuming to the point of being unbearable, those seeds of doubt have already been sown – \u201cI don\u2019t know if you really see me\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With an all-encompassing R&B melody, ‘I Really Want To Love You (So Bad)’ is peak 80s nostalgia, and it’s the perfect throwback to the heart-wrenching love songs of that era. So much so, that it demanded a lyric video to match, and, in collaboration with HIP Video Production, they’ve pulled it off. With an abstract, subdued aesthetic, the track’s sense of total immersion is mirrored, giving the viewer the sense that they’re drifting away in a current that can\u2019t be stopped, while shimmering lights catch the eye, as the float and flicker in time with the heavy confessions of the narrator. While the darkness threatens to take hold, there’s still glimmers of starlight peeking through, suggesting that all may not be lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
