Set for release on the 10th of April, and available for pre-release from the 27th of March, ‘Donegal\/The Swallow’s Tail’ sees Davie Furey expand his long-time friendship with Gerry Adams expand into music.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Adams, former Sinn F\u00e9in President and renowned activist, adds an iconic touch to Davie’s storytelling, who set a song around Gerry’s poem, ‘Tir Chonaill Thuaith’. Adams reads stanzas of the poem as Gaeilge, throughout the song. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pair – with Davie Furey on vocals – are joined y exceptional musicians, Mike McGoldrick (Mark Knopfler Band) on flute, \u00c9anna \u00d3 Cr\u00f3inin playing uilleann pipes, Kane O\u2019Rourke on fiddle, and Martin Quinn, on acoustic guitar and keys. Martin additionally produced it at Jam Studios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Davie Furey and Gerry Adams’ long-standing friendship stems from the pair’s strong sense of national identity, as well as their shared love of music and poetry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking about the release, Davie Furey said,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo work with Gerry and these incredible musicians on this song is\u00a0one of the highlights of my musical career. I had a vision of how the song and poem would\u00a0marry but the musicians involved on this tune brought it\u00a0to another level. Gerry has been a\u00a0good friend over the years. I greatly admire the work he has done in bringing peace to our\u00a0country and his work in striving for a United Ireland\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
