\"Monks<\/a><\/p>\n

The Monks of Mellonwah are an alternative rock group from Sydney, Australia.\u00a0 Formed in 2009 by school friends Vikram Kaushik,\u00a0Joshua Baissari and brothers Joseph and John de la Hoyde, the Monks, as they are also known, received significant Australian radio play with their first EP, “Stars are Out”, released in 2010.\u00a0 Their first video, for their song, “Swamp Groove”, in 2011, was shown on ABC TV’s flagship music programme, RAGE.\u00a0 Second EP “Neurogenesis”, was released in 2012, and garnered the group international airplay as well as tours of both Australia and the US.\u00a0 “Neverending Spirit”, from this EP was used in an episode of MTV’s “The Real World: St. Thomas”.\u00a0 Subsequent EP releases were “Sky and the Dark Night”, “Ghost Stories”, and “Afraid to Die”, all in 2013.\u00a0 Their debut full length album, “Turn The People”, was released last year.<\/p>\n

Citing influences including Pink Floyd, Muse, Led Zeppelin, Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Monks are currently in the studio recording the follow up to “Turn the People”.\u00a0 “Hide Away” is the first sample of the new album – featuring an upbeat, magnetic groove and soaring vocals, \u201cHide Away\u201d it’s an exciting taste of what is yet to come.<\/p>\n
