Out tomorrow, the 10th of October, ‘Silence Counts For Nothing’ is the fierce debut album from Manchester’s alternative pop rock collective, LUCIGENIC. The album drop comes ahead of their launch party on the 12th of October, at Night & Day Caf\u00e9<\/a>.<\/strong> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Comprising ten tracks, ‘Silence Counts For Nothing’ sees LUCIGENIC examine the destruction of human connection in this age of social media and AI, where communication comes in the form of fleeting – and often as quickly vanishing – images and limited-character conversations, which have, more often than not, been carefully edited and curated before hitting “send”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Patti Smith, The Velvet Underground, Brian Jonestown Massacre, and Mazzy Star, there’s also a hint of Stevie Nicks in the vocals of lead singer, Lucy Davies Wyatt, who co-composes with Gary Wyatt, who also plays guitar and keyboards. The album features contributions from the likes of Mark Refoy (Spiritualized, Spacemen 3), and Dave Barbarossa (Bow Wow Wow, Republica), as well as producers Mike Bennett (The Fall, Ian Brown) and David Tolan (Tori Amos, Charlatans). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Silence Counts For Nothing’ had its genesis as voice notes on a phone, before being recorded in the home studio. The album finally came into being at Hope Mill Studios, Manchester. Featuring Simon Wolstencroft, best known for his work with The Fall, and Ian Brown, on drums, and Thomas “Twem” Tewmlow on bass and co-production, it was mixed by Tomos Williams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LUCIGENIC have so far received high praise, with their single, ‘Comfort Zone’, which was co-written with Simon Wolstencroft, finding its way onto the BBC Introducing, and the ‘Fresh On The Net<\/a>‘ playlist, back in July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
