Out today, the 26th of September, ‘Lore’ is the new EP from Tallahassee based duo, Puppy Le Pew.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Bringing together a heady mix of alt-pop and pop, the duo are partners not just in music but in life, and their five-track EP weaves together themes of love, vengeance, and myth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Puppy Le Pew came about after the 2024 election cycle, Jacob Siefert and Amina Kamau bring to their music a pop philosophy that more than verges on the rebellious, with absolute bops that aim to bring about movement – not just physical, but also emotional and intellectual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Lore’ takes a journey through missed connections, toxic boundaries and the seemingly endless spiral of despair. The pair describe ‘Lore’ as having been “hacked up in a feverish seizure, forged in a New Orleans Airbnb, stitched from vintage synths and drum packs scavenged from the digital underbelly, a broadcast from the brink of the American inferno”. It’s an apt description, as the tracks contain catchy instrumentals and intoxicating rhythms, which underpin Amina’s vocals, which are at times augmented with electronic elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Puppy Le Pew say their name was inspired by the politically incorrect antics of Pepe Le Pew, and the sweaty discomfort of a wedding dress; that should give you some idea of the way this duo think. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comprising 6\u20194\u201d, 300lb Air Force veteran and licensed private investigator, Jacob, and Amina, whose roots are in political organising, and dance, they take a hands on and very interesting look at their music, with Jacob crafting beats from Fairlight CMI samples and jungle music relics, which had previously been untouched since 2003. He also produces digital art, made entirely without AI, to complements the overall aesthetic of the EP, paying homage to vintage cartoons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
