Forever pushing the boundaries of contemporary music and culture, Dave Luv<\/a>‘s latest release, ‘Let It Go’, sees the Chicago native explore what happens when a romantic relationship has reached its end – and breaking up is the hardest thing to do.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

As Neil Sedaka famously sang, “Instead of breaking up, I wish we were making up again”, and with ‘Let It Go’, Dave Luv takes it to the extreme. Telling the tale of a lover who just can’t get over the end of the relationship, he uses indie rock sounds, with thrumming guitars, vibrant drums, and emotional vocals, leaving listeners wanting more – just like the lover who can’t let it go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The love in the relationship may be long dead and gone, but the music video for ‘Let It Go’ suggests that even that doesn’t mean it’s over. Directed by hip hop visual producer Nicholas Jandora, who has been a frequent collaborator with Luv, the clip is a playful narration of never ever wanting the relationship to end. Luv’s character is literally dead – on the mortuary slab even – yet his ex still somehow manages to summon him to life – well, half-life. Dragging himself back to her house, like a zombie, his skin deathly pale and his eyes blankly staring, he keeps up the pretence of the relationship, but it’s drained every ounce of energy from him. Eventually he manages to break free, returning to the slab, forcing her to acknowledge that their love – and he – is dead and gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
