Swedish songstress and Ivor Novello nominee Elina is emerging with a vibrant new chapter – embracing a newfound grounded confidence that leads her upcoming second EP, the soul-baring ‘A Place I Recognize’. Kicking off her magnetic new era, she teams up with acclaimed British songwriter James TW on ‘Scars’ – a stirring new single that pays homage to the beauty within imperfection – because if you look hard enough, you’ll find it.

As ethereal as the acoustic soundscapes of previous EP ‘Under The Different Skies’, Elina’s contemplative and melodic style is elevated to striking new heights. In this intimate duet, the harmonious blend of their voices is pure yet electrifying, drenched in sea-like reverberation that could fill the walls of an empty church. The electric guitar, sun-soaked and dreamy, effortlessly backdrops wistful melodies that weave together perfectly – crafting a serene soundtrack to the summer season’s quiet departure.

Renowned for her timeless songwriting and admirable storytelling, ‘Scars’ finds Elina head-to-head with the beguiling nature of self-acceptance – a concept many of us tend to shy away from. Professed through lush melodies and ethereal vocal delivery, this journey is shaped by falling in love and letting the light in. As she puts it best herself:

“In love, we hold each other up through them. It’s about seeing someone fully, not despite their scars, but because of them”.

James TW – a rising British songwriter – reflected on how the song came about:

“Writing ‘Scars’ in a converted warehouse studio in Shoreditch on a rainy London afternoon was a beautifully calm and inspiring experience. From being a listener of Elina’s music to now collaborating with her on this duet, it feels incredibly special. I love how our voices blend, it brings a unique intimacy & depth to the song”.

‘Scars’ is an unforgettable track born out of courage and the gentle empowerment that comes with vulnerability – all wounds, mistakes, and imperfections included.
