Nate Currin<\/a>‘s songs tell cathartic stories of finding beauty in the broken places, and no less so than with latest release, ‘The Highway’.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Nate’s first EP came out way back in 2009, but he’s encountered a whole lot of barriers to his musical career since then, including burnout, the global Covid-19 Pandemic, business getting in the way, and crushing heartbreak. These caused him to step away from music for a prolonged period, but with more than 400 songs under his belt, it’s clear he couldn’t step away for long. Now, with a new chapter in the form of his album, ‘Ghost Town’, Nate Currin is back – and better than ever before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It would be easy to call ‘The Highway’ a love song, but that’s too restrictive a term; rather, it’s a ballad of hope and heartbreak, which fully encapsulates that very human inclination to grasp hold of something before it fades away completely; to seize the day and express those feelings that lay unspoken below the surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paying tribute to one of the most “remarkable women” he’s ever known, Currin tells a poignant tale of longing that is insurmountable and unshakable in its intensity. His lyrics are devastatingly vivid, working seamlessly with the piano melody, light snare drum, and ethereal harmonies. He sings, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf she would have me, I\u2019d be here to stay”, but, \u201cI\u2019m still out there on the highway\u201d – \u201csearching for that one who will forever pull me off for good\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The music video for ‘The Highway’ captures the emotional intensity of the song, as we see Currin taking the long drive from Nashville to Michigan, over endless fields, shrouded in snow. The viewer made to feel as though we are riding shotgun alongside him, and see everything in real time, as Currin drops everything just for the opportunity to clasp to him the lover he desperately longs for. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
