Paul Eke’s new single, ‘[Say It Ain’t True’, shows his way with words, the heartfelt ballad evoking a sense of nostalgia, that will sooth and console, and despite it being a faith based track, it’s relatable to all, believers and non-believers alike.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Paul Eke grew up in church, singing in the choir, and after attending college and joining the army thereafter, he found his path leading him back to his creative roots. Once he left the forces, Eke moved to New York City to pursue acting and singing, drawn in by that city\u2019s promise of opportunity and possibility. He auditioned for roles and performed in clubs, immersing himself in the entertainment industry. That was until 1995, when he felt the call to make a change, and he moved to Nashville, where he opened the independent record label, Sahara Records. This paved the way for him to explore music production, and writing for other artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That didn’t stop him singing though. While latest release, ‘Say It Ain\u2019t True’, has its centre on the struggles of a romantic relationship, it was nonetheless inspired by the ways God has helped Eke through specific challenges. Although he was brought up in the church, it wasn’t until later in life that Eke leaned fully into his faith, when he began serving as a Deacon at a church in Nashville. This led to his ambitions and desires becoming increasingly guided more and more by God, both through his role in the church and his journey in music. He was granted the spiritual strength gave him the tools to say goodbye, make peace, reconcile, and overcome life\u2019s many trials. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The music video for ‘Say It Ain’t True’ continues this story, and while it explores uncertainty in a relationship, and question of whether or not Eke\u2019s lover is being honest with him, it’s rich with timeless production values that are emotional, and tug at the heartstrings, reminiscent of Prince, and Luther Vandross. With vast background vocals, delicate synths, and an expressive saxophone, it leaves no doubt that Eke means every word in this ballad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
