Birmingham-born singer-songwriter Matreya is set to invite listeners on an enthralling spiritual voyage with the release of his empowering second single, ‘I Saw The Light’, out 11th July. Unveiling his experiences of healing from depression and rediscovering hope through Reiki, this intimate offering is set to be his most transformative and uplifting yet.

‘I Saw The Light’ follows the emotional debut ‘Eagles’, a soaring anthem that uncovered the first instalment of his sincere and heartfelt musical landscape. Now, he allows the listeners to discover more, crafting a story of surrender and the life-altering moment when you decide to leave the past behind and embark on a journey of self-discovery and positive change.

‘I Saw The Light’ will debut alongside #FromDarknessToLight, an intimate video series featuring Matreya in conversation with some of the world’s most influential healers, yoga teachers, and spiritual leaders. Together, they explore anxiety, depression, and alternative paths to wellness through open, heartfelt dialogue. The series delves into ancient healing traditions – from Native American ceremonies and Buddhist mindfulness to Aboriginal wisdom and holistic medicine – highlighting how connection, community, and ancestral practices can illuminate a path through mental health challenges. A truly liberating complement to the song’s lyrical message.

Having originally captivated audiences as ‘Mason Noise’ on the The X Factor in 2015 with his fearless performances, the singer was struck by a personal tragedy – leaving him to be impacted by depression. This gave him the choice to pursue meditation, Qi Gong, and Reiki – practices that changed his entire mindset and led him to become a practitioner and trained in yoga therapy. Now, he’s returned to music – reborn as Matreya – and is more than ready to tell his influential story.

For anyone who’s looking for a glimmer of hope in the darkest of moments, ‘I Saw The Light’ may be the soul-stirring anthem you’re searching for.
