With a devotion to love and connection that flows through everything Karen Atkins touches, songwriting is just one string to her bow of ever-growing community-enriching pursuits. Atkins uses music as a tool to spark relationship, kinship, and, after starting locally, she’s expanding a network of house concerts, where she celebrates talented artists in a relaxed setting. “The Collab Lab”, the title of her network, where she offers scholarships, music lessons, and recording experiences to children in her community, who might not otherwise have such a chance. Additionally, “Cool Music Club” sees her uplifting those indie artists who exceptional, yet underappreciated music. It’s an online space for anyone to engage in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After losing her dear friend Theresa, back in 2019, who had to her been a source of light, companionship, and comfort, Karen started looking for signs that their bond remained unbroken. Soon after, a series of events that seemed too closely aligned to be just coincidence, gave her the proof she needed that Theresa was still with her, and would always be. From this, ‘She Rises’ came to Atkins, in an effortless burst of raw energy. The track is filled with radiant optimism, and a deep intimacy. With acoustic guitar strumming and soft spoken singing, vocalising, and spoken word, the track is instantly soothing to the very soul of the listener, giving a uniquely positive perspective on loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shot in the Sacred Valley of Per\u00fa, it feels like you’re stepping into another world, as Karen wanders through the neon green fields, exploring the ancient ruins and cobbled streets, surrounded by sheer cliff faces.
