D. Boone Pittman’s new single, ‘The Gardener’, was inspired initially by his wife, but as he started writing he brought back deep, long forgotten memories of his childhood with his grandmother. <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

With his poetic prose, Pittman manages to paint a picture that locals will find easy to imagine. Singing Gospel tunes as you picked beans, then later sitting on the front porch, stringing them all, your fingers taking on the green of the pods. It’s here that he learned to become the man he is today, listening to the Gardener singing in the rows of beans, corn and other vegetables growing in her garden. Now that the “years have flown”, and that “Grannie’s gone to the mansion on the hillside”. he’s holding onto those long ago memories even tighter than ever before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With his delicate guitar work, and his vocals reminiscent of the likes of Alan Jackson, and Randy Travis, Pittman transports his listeners back to that time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

D. Boone Pittman is the very embodiment of Eastern Kentucky, despite having his origins in Ohio. The now retired worship minister started his musical journey back in the 1970s, when, as a child, he would transcribe lyrics for his father. Initially reluctant, he gradually warmed to what he considers an undeniable calling to create and perform music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moving to Kentucky was immediately transformative, resulting in a connection to not just the region, but also its people and culture. D. Boone Pittman’s music tells the story of his surroundings, a sonic tapestry woven from the very threads of the Appalachia around him. Speaking of the area, Pittman said, \u201cI think this is the most beautiful place on the planet. I think the people that live here are wonderful people. There’s just so much here to sing about and write about.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He’s not gone unappreciated. Last year Pittman was declared Songwriter of the Year at the Josie Music Awards, as well as \u201cBest Original Song\u201d at the 2024 Appalachian Entertainment Awards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The music video for ‘The Gardener’ takes viewers through the gates of Pittman’s grandmother’s garden – in reality it was shot at Stonehenge Farm, in Versailles, Kentucky. The clip features his grandchildren, wife, and longtime friend, and as he strolls across the farmland, with his guitar in hand, it’s clear what the overall message is: home isn\u2019t just a place: it can be anywhere, so long as it’s where you feel your safest, most known, and most loved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
