With the release of the remixed and remastered \u2018In California,\u2019\u2014a project in support of the non-profit No Res Gourmet\u2014Witz & The Most High have taken a song already thick with nostalgia and turned it into something even more touching\u2014an elegy and a tribute, wrapped in melody.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Originally appearing on his 2024 debut EP, \u2018In California\u2019 captured the beauty and contradictions of the Golden State. But time and tragedy have deepened its meaning. The fires that ravaged Los Angeles, Pacific Palisades, and Malibu left scars on the land and the people, including Witz himself. His childhood home, the school his children once laughed in, the beachfront house where he first filmed this song\u2014all gone. But the spirit of California? That endures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shot on location among the very places the fires tore through, the new music video, released on the 7th March, transforms \u2018In California\u2019 into an act of remembrance. Each note rings with the ache of what was lost and the quiet strength of those who remain. Witz\u2019s blend of Americana, folk, reggae, and pop carries his message with haunting clarity: nothing lasts forever, but love, community, and memory refuse to fade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That same resilience is embodied by No Res Gourmet, a non-profit committed to eradicating food insecurity through nourishment, education, and empowerment. In response to the devastation of the LA fires, they are actively preparing and distributing meals to those in need, ensuring that recovery is about restoring dignity, health, and hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
