A touching tribute to her mother, ‘Don’t Forget Me’ sees M\u00e9a of Me And My Nightmare weave sunny memories with the turmoil of caring for a loved one with a heartbreaking illness. <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Back in 2017 M\u00e9a dropped everything immediately after her tour with Lords of Acid to care full-time for her mother, Patricia, who was battling Alzheimer\u2019s and Dementia. M\u00e9a poignantly tackles the gut-wrenching distress and struggle she experienced caring for someone she loved with all of her heart, the person she described as her best friend. M\u00e9a\u2019s life has she knew it came to a shuddering halt as her mother\u2019s health gradually deteriorated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Developed alongside M\u00e9a\u2019s collaborator, En Esch, ‘Don\u2019t Forget Me’ is haunting and poignant, while infused with heartfelt sentiment. Ethereal guitar riffs combine with brooding, atmospheric synths, creating a melancholic sonicscape with the rhythms providing a steady, hypnotic beat. M\u00e9a\u2019s vocals, are rich yet vulnerable, with a pleading tone as if she were reaching out to her mother at that very moment. Powerful and personal, Mea extends a hand to listeners, reminding them they are not alone in their grief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the music video for ‘Don’t Forget Me’, the raw beauty and heartbreak of caregiving is fully captured, with its nostalgic, hazy, flashback scenes that mirror the real-life loving relationship and memories M\u00e9a had with her mother. They are intertwined with the stressful, panic-inducing imagery of life solely dedicated to caring for someone declining in health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With all the chaos of long nights in and out of hospitals, endless phone calls and paperwork to sort out, having to take each day as it came, and feeling desperately alone, M\u00e9a wished for just one thing; that her mother not forget her. Thankfully, her wish came true. Our heartstrings are pulled as she honours the legacy of a wonderful mother who promised not to forget her \u201csweet baby girl\u201d, and, even in her last moments, fulfilled that promise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
