Kendra Erika channels old style Hollywood glamour in the music video for her single, ‘Body Language<\/a>‘. We spoke to her about how she came to be at the point she is in her career, and what’s coming up next.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Can you tell us more about how you started out as an artist?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    <\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    My journey began when I was very little. For the sake of not elongating the story, I was tone-deaf and challenged in the skill department. I then was coached by a professional opera singer, and he built that foundational basis for me moving forward. From there, I was able to grow my voice and grow with versatility in my vocal performance career. This led me to graduate from doing community and school theatre to performing in local gigs and shows, and then moving into the songwriting and recording avenue, which up until now, has been evolving ever since.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    How has your journey in the music industry shaped your personal growth, and what challenges have you overcome along the way?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      <\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Well, the challenges I\u2019ve encountered and overcome have surely shaped me. Interacting and being involved in quite a few unsavoury and obscure personalities over the years, has strengthened my discernment and my navigational skills throughout not only the industry but in the general life playing field as well. It has taught me to work only with people who fit your narrative, and people who, when you work with them, your physiological responses are nothing but good, and north pointing in your inner compass.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      How does ‘Body Language’ reflect where you are in your journey as an artist?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        <\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        On the dance music front, it\u2019s reflecting wonderfully. On the overall front, it\u2019s reflecting even more wonderfully.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The music video for ‘Body Language’ is visually captivating. What was your vision for the video, and how did you bring it to life?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          <\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          The initial vision for the video was I wanted to portray the character of Poison Ivy in an opulent and old Hollywood panache way. Since Poison Ivy has been a prolific figure cinematically for using and weaponizing herself through body language, there was something there I wanted to emulate through that inspiration. I corralled my primary music video team in Vegas and communicated what the vision was, and we all made it happen with our conjoined efforts.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Are there any behind-the-scenes moments from filming the ‘Body Language’ music video that stands out to you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            <\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            The only thing that stood out to me while filming was the fact that it was very very hot in temperature those couple of days. But, I believe that only motivated us to make the video even hotter than it was outside.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            What do you hope viewers will take away from the visual elements of the music video, and how do they complement the song\u2019s overall message?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

              <\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              I\u2019m hoping they will have a fun time with the visuals and also have that reminiscent moment of correlating it to those classic Batman, and Poison Ivy days.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              As a songwriter, what is your creative process like? Do you start with the melody, lyrics, or a particular emotion?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                <\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                Primarily, and for the most part, I start with the melody. Whichever producer I\u2019m working with, we build a track, or framework, based on the mentioned references, and then we move forward with sculpting the melody from there. And, then the lyrics and the emotion follow.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                What\u2019s one piece of advice you would give to aspiring artists who are just starting their musical careers?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  <\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                  Use your body and your instincts to find your ideal team. They are supposed to work for you, not the other way around. And, just because they\u2019ve worked with so-and-so, does not mean they know what\u2019s good for you.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  Looking ahead, what can fans expect from you in the future? Are there any upcoming projects, collaborations, or new directions you\u2019re excited to explore?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
