Contemporary jazz artist Ute Lemper returns with her eclectic track, ‘Permanently Confused’.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Upbeat tempo notwithstanding, ‘Permanently Confused’ is a semi-autobiographical, almost elegiac track from Ms Lemper. She outlines the lessons she’s learned during her lifetime, and tells the story of how her parents were originally her teachers, but now her mother is gone and her father is far away – then she found her daughter was her teacher – but now she’s learning to take her lessons from that which lays around her. She remains permanently confused of course – don’t think she’s got it all worked out yet – but she’s getting there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ute Lemper’s style is contemporary jazz, and as such it owes as much to beat poetry as anything else. Her stream of consciousness flow comes out like a rushing waterfall, and is matched by the video, scenes of her chilling in New York City, singing in the park, on the subway, and on stage, interspersed with its super8 footage of her daughter as a child. Overall she’s just generally being at one with the world, and taking it all in, and surely that’s a lesson we can all take hold of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
