From the first note of Porter Block’s ‘If You See Eulene’, it seems as if we’ve stumbled on a band from the British Invasion, but actually, despite the quarter-note chords banged out on the piano, strummed hollow-bodied electric guitar, and sweet vocal harmonies, it turns out they’re from New York City and the here and now. <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Porter Block have for the past two decades been coming up with marvellously written guitar pop songs that take one back to the era of classic pop, while at the same time hooking straight into the current power-pop revival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s more than a touch of Peter Gabriel to lead singer Peter Block’s vocals, and the song itself reminds us in parts of John Sebastian’s, ‘Welcome Back’, best known as the theme song of the hit tv show, ‘Welcome Back Kotter’. Maybe it’s actually a New York City sound?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The music video for ‘If You See Eulene’ sees Peter Block surrounded by women dressed in a throwback Mary Quant style; brightly coloured go-go dresses and long flowing tresses. It’s a performance video with a difference, the band are playing and singing and dancing, while being filmed by the women holding Super-8 cameras, giving it a very authentic 60s\/70s feel. It’s a lot of fun, and super catchy, and if you’re anything like us, you’ll be playing this quite a few times before you leave this page!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
