Comprising French singer and musician, Leah Attali, and New York City guitarist and songwriter, Geoff Bradford, Helia Tatla comes together as a musical collaboration in Austin, Texas, and sees the pair combine their incredible talents into a self-titled EP that will inspire listeners everywhere.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Released on March 8, the 4 track set is quirky yet relatable. Opener, ‘Third Culture Kids’ is named for those who are living in a country that is different to that of their birth, and that of their parents. It’s reflective of the experiences of people today – not just the young – who have grown up in a world that has changed completely from that of their parents, and who feel they don’t quite belong in the place where they live. The politics of the world around us right now means this is affecting more and more people. Bradford’s guitar is light and jazzy, alongside a buzzing horn, while Attali’s vocals are strident and authoritative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This authority continues throughout, with second track, ‘Servant’s Heart’ taking us in an unexpected direction, Attali singing of learning to serve others, placing others ahead of you – and in so doing, finding your true self, and in no respect losing your power. Again, her vocals are supported by the gorgeous instrumentals; it’s a true partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Track 3, ‘Caught Up In’, opens with keys and drums, paving the way for a more gentle vocal from Attali, joined in duet by Bradford. It’s much softer and more relaxed than the previous two tracks, but no less powerful lyrically. It presents like a love song, while the duo sing of revolutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final track, ‘Ocean Blue’, has a more 60s vibe to it, bringing back the horns and adding a jangly guitar, as well as some freaking far out Hammond organ licks. Attali’s voice is of course the perfect match for this, affirming and resolute. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
