Connecticut born, Los Angeles based Stewart Taylor is a pop singer known for his surprisingly reflective tracks, and his latest release, ‘Nightmares’, is no exception.

Marvellously sung and beautifully produced, ‘Nightmares’ sees Taylor having a different sort of night to the one he’s sung about in the past, on tracks such as the provocative, ‘Mess Your Hair Up’, and the outrageous, ‘Cover Boy’. He’s fighting against insomnia, and is haunted by ghosts, anxieties, and insecurities. Along the way he realises that it’s only the touch of the one he loves that can truly put him at rest.

‘Nightmares’ is a delicious pop track with a dance beat and funky rhythms, while Taylor’s performance is one of the sort of passion that only comes from someone who is truly dedicated to and understands the depths of storytelling and song construction.

The music video for ‘Nightmares’, directed by Benjamin Farren, opens with a flash of lightning in a storm-filled sky, and ends on a shot of the artist’s notebook, where we see lyrics he’s written down to get him through those nights he’s had to spend alone. His expression wen singing is intense, pleading, and filled with a longing and breathlessness that clearly comes from his own lived experiences. In the shadows and smoke we are shown a boyfriend, a man gazing away from the camera, while Taylor reaches for him, inaccessible, through the haze, in that place between waking and sleeping.
