Singer songwriter Elrey James tells us his lived interpretation of the classic parable, ‘The Prodigal Son’, accompanied by a rocking music video showing us his licks.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Born George Castrinos in St. Petersburg, Florida, Elrey James got into rock music listening to the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Led Zeppelin. He started playing rock and roll at the age of 10, and as soon as he could, he hooked his six string over his shoulder, and moved to Los Angeles, where he found his way to playing with the rock greats, such as Canned Heat, and playing and writing with the Saint James Band, and appearing with Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, among others. Now, as Elrey James, his masterful homespun rock tunes portray his authenticity, and the life he’s lived in music, heartbreak, and triumph. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘The Prodigal Son’ is the first of what is set to be a steady stream of singles and albums from Elrey James. It’s his interpretation of the classic Bible parable, and he shares his experience of rocking, rolling, and redeeming himself distilled into song. Opening with gritty rollicking riffs and hard-pounding drums, Castrinos tells his journey in a way that goes beyond words, compelling us to move both inwardly and outwardly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The music video for ‘The Prodigal Son’, directed by Matt Mahurin, is a beautiful display of visual storytelling, telling the story of a vagabond searching for redemption. Allow the music and the visuals to wash over you, and take in the talent of of Elrey James (we especially loved the riff at the 2:10 mark).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
