Released December 10, just in time for Christmas, ‘A Celtic Christmas’ is the latest album from Tim Edey. The track is available to stream and download here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Tim, who was born in Broadstairs, Kent but is now based in Donegal, Ireland, has Irish roots and learned his craft from his father, Richard, as well as being inspired by the likes of Ed Boyd, Steve Cooney, and\u00a0Django\u00a0Reinhardt. The new album coincides with Tim’s UK tour, and the 11 tracks comprise suggestions from friends and fans, all linked by the gorgeous instrumentation from some of the world’s finest musicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opening with the instantly recognisable ‘Ding Dong Merrily On High\/O’Carolans Concerto’, the album works its way through heartfelt tracks linked by a festive theme and Tim’s enthusiasm, and incredible talent. While ‘A Celtic Christmas’ was originally intended as a solo project, Tim’s work touring has seen him join forces with some legends of contemporary Celtic music, many of whom feature on the album. These include piper Ross Ainslie, Capercaillie\u2019s Donald Shaw, harmonica maestro\u00a0Brendan Power,\u00a0percussionist\u00a0Mark Kelso\u00a0and Irish\/Australian guitar legend and Tim\u2019s mentor, Steve Cooney on fretless bass.\u00a0<\/strong>The next generation of Celtic performers also have their place in the record, including with strings, violin and arrangements by 17-year-old, Mary-Frances Leahy, daughter of Canadian talents,\u00a0Natalie MacMaster\u00a0and\u00a0Donnell Leahy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘A Celtic Christmas’ was recorded at Mike Oldfield’s studio, and highlights include ‘The Snowman’, ‘The Wexford Carol’, and, poignantly in the light of Shane MacGowan’s recent death, ‘Fairy Tale of New York’. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
