Out of England’s Midlands region, Ruby J is a singer songwriter and recording artist who, if not already on your radar, should be on there pronto.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Praised by Paloma Faith in 2020, who said, “Ruby J is that unique voice”, Ruby J’s new single, ‘Home’, takes its inspiration from the bouncy rhythms and soulful vocal of Motown, as well as artists such as Lulu, whose music she listened to while writing the track, and more recent artists such as Plan B and his album, ‘The Defamation Of Strickland Banks’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The upbeat, jangly guitar, strident drums, and emphatic horns set the foundation for Ruby J’s vocals, which are unexpected and yet incredibly catchy. Her sound is considerably mature, especially given she’s still only 18 years old, and she captures the vibe of Northern Soul perfectly, whether it was intentional or not – it’s no wonder she’s been compared to the likes of Amy Winehouse, Macy Gray, Tina Turner, and even Paolo Nutini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ruby J first started playing guitar at the age of 13, inspired by the likes of Tash Sultana, and Arctic Monkeys, and since that time she’s worked on her art and her live performance, with a dynamic stage presence that leaves audiences enthralled and captivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ruby J made her major UK festival debut last year at the Isle Of Wight Festival, as well as Manchester’s ‘Neighbourhood’ Festival. She’s supported Becky Hill, Scouting for Girls, The K\u2019s, and Red Rum Club, as well as sharing the stage with Liverpool folk rock artist, Jamie Webster.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ruby has just finished a five date tour across the UK with The Lathums over the summer festival season, and she always finished her set with ‘Home’, which quickly became an audience and fan favourite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
