Out now, ‘The Devil’s In Durango’ is the new single from Athens Georgia singer songwriter, Kimberley Morgan York, and is taken from her latest EP, ‘Devil Songs And Other Such Nonsense’.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Kimberly Morgan York’s sweet country-flavoured vocals launch this track, accompanied by a waltz-tempo guitar and brushed drums. Morgan York sings of how she should be back home with her angel in Georgia, but instead, she’s being tempted by the devil in Durango, Colorado (check the reference to “rocky mountain high” in the song).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kimberly Morgan York is well able to capture the anxiety of being caught between a rock and a hard place, about to do something you know you shouldn’t, but not having the energy to resist. A former lover calls her to come meet him in Durango – she knows it’s wrong, but annoyingly, it also feels so right. At times the music takes on an almost hymnal feel when she sings of the conflict she’s fighting against (compare and contrast when Morgan York sings, “and it takes me back to when I felt desire<\/a>” with the line, “then sings my soul, my saviour God to thee<\/a>” in the hymn, ‘How Great Thou Art”), and in so doing we know that she’ll go back to her angel, despite her dalliance with the devil. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Morgan York’s voice has been compared to that of Dolly Parton; we think her songwriting talents are up there with Dolly as well. She has the gift for telling a story that is both heartfelt and heartwrenching, and she takes you through the emotional wringer with every note she sings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
