Out today 28 September, ‘Measure Of Degree’ is the new single from David Hobbes. The track comes ahead of his new album, ‘Searching For A Home’, set for release on November 17.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Singer-songwriter David Hobbes says, “I aspire to be madly authentic”. His new release, ‘Measure Of Degree’ is certainly that. It’s got a catchy rhythm and a storytelling lyric style that draws you in from the very first note and word. Tenderness and ferocity sit side by side; a gentle love story fits perfectly with the oftentimes savage instrumentals. A tale of opposites attracting – she a writer, he a fighter – yet they found a middle ground in love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise the music finds a middle ground. Wailing electric guitars battle with pounding percussive beats; the wah wah tying it all together into a deeply satisfying instrumental. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At times the verses feel as though they’re racing to places unknown, only to be drawn back by the chorus. We like it, we’re pulled along for the ride, breathless and exhausted, but enjoying every second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking of his new album, Hobbes says, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“If I’m going to do anything provocative, it will be with the lyrics but not the music. I want the music to be satisfying and full of variety, and I think we have achieved this here. I don’t think you will be bored.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

If ‘Measure Of Degree’ is anything to go by – and we’ve listened to it about 6 times now – there’s not a chance of being bored by the rest of his songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
