John Philbrick is stepping up to bring to the fore all those session musicians, backing vocalists, and unsung songwriters. The LA based producer and songwriter, who’s best known as a session guitarist, trained at the Berklee School Of Music, is incredibly well connected, and that’s how he joined forces with collaborators Justin Gariano, Dusty Schaller, and vocalist\/keyboardist Steve Maggiora, on his debut album, ‘If You Say So’. The album is not just an homage to his network of talented friends, but also his broad range of influences. The album, which contains Van Halen-esque riffs, and bluesy dance-along classics, was mixed and mastered by Grammy-winners Ross Hogarth and Richard Dodd, respectively, and serves as a showcase for Philbrick’s eclectic guitar style.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

‘Losing Out To Crazy’, lifted from the album, is a strutting and screeching rock track, serving as a platform for Pilbrick to vent his frustration at the madness of the status quo. Over a foundation of unrelenting chords and pounding drums, lead vocalist Steve Maggiora roars out in angst, and effectively mimicking the emotional shrieks of Philbrick’s guitar. He begs for a return to peace, love, faith, and above all else, brotherhood. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official lyric video for ‘Losing Out To Crazy’ offers a deeper aspect to the track. As Maggiora’s powerful words appear on screen, the clip shows an empty, red-saturated Los Angeles. It’s unsure if the scenes are showing a post-apocalyptic view of the city, or if it’s merely shot before the dawn, but one way or the other we’re standing on the precipice of choice, as we decide whether to let the crazy take over, or instead, wake up to a new way of being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
