Based in the UK and raised by a musician father, neo-soul producer Benjamin Race grew up in the soul music scene, and so had no excuse not to ever get into music. Starting at the age of 11, when he first started playing bass guitar – he eventually took lessons with session bassists Jon Bower (The Real Thing\/ Dexys Midnight Runners) and Julian Crampton (The Pasadenas, Incognito, Tony Momerelle, Dave Lee – he threw himself into music wholeheartedly. But then he attended art school, and realised that music was just one art form he had an affinity for, and so he expanded his repertoire to include photography and videography as well, thus opening himself up to producing and directing. <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Musically he created tracks under the pseudonym HD, where he collaborated with many others, including Dennis Bettis (Grammy-nominated, songwriter to Luther Vandross, Charlie Wilson, and Boys II Men), Teisha Marie, and Ellison Kendrick (Joss Stone), who features on his new single. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now he’s dropped the moniker, and is his fullest, most transparent self, and pushing production to its highest level. New single, ‘Take You Home’, is an infectious R&B bop, which was mastered at Abbey Road, no less. The track opens up with sparkling synths and funky guitar, ahead of merry horns, all of which lay down a gorgeous foundation for Kenrick’s sultry vocals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The music video for ‘Take You Home’, directed by Race, invites us to join Ellison Kendrick as we explore the Art Deco District of Miami. We follow Kendrick down alleyways and white sandy beaches, held in sway by the gorgeous track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
