For those of us who grew up in the 1980s, it’s been so good to see the revival of that decade in recent years, its music and culture in general. Singer songwriter Andrew X practically grew up with 80s music as his first love, and so the revival is certainly something he’s enjoying too. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While he was brought up on the music of the 80s by his hi-fi stereo enthusiast father, with the likes of Fleetwood Mac and Genesis serving as the basis of his musical education, Andrew also fell in love with pop music while listening to the radio, devouring the sound of Steve Winwood, Bryan Adams, and many more, while hanging around at his mother\u2019s beauty salon, waiting for her to finish work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrew spent many years honing his guitar skills, singing, and song writing, and then formed pop rock band Hot Vegas, during the summer holidays, after his freshman year of college. While touring, writing, and recording with Hot Vegas, he perfected his craft, while also getting into amateur boxing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrew’s debut double-disc solo album, ‘Language of Love’, was released in 2009, and was then followed by 2015’s ‘Young Hearts’. The latter included romantic, feel-good vibes songs, reminiscent of the 80s. Andrew took a musical hiatus after ‘Young Hearts’, and operated his own a competitive boxing gym for several years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now he’s returned, and the timing couldn’t have been better. With his songs filled to the brim with 80s optimism, his upcoming album, ‘Driving At Sunset’, speaks to the power of passion, and evokes feelings of hope and encouragement for those romantics among us who are trying their hardest to navigate through life’s complex streets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrew X’s latest single, ‘Whatever It Takes’, opens with synths and a light drum rhythm, while Andrew channels Bryan Adams and Rick Springfield with his song of eternal hope, springing from love. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The music video for ‘Whatever It Takes’ adds to the nostalgic ear candy, with its story of a young woman who embarks on a romance with an extra-terrestrial lover. Directed by Luke Pilgrim and Brad Kennedy, of Sozo Bear Films, you’ll be left wanting for more – and a deep need to find out what happens next. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
