Set for release tomorrow, September 15, ‘Remember When I’ is the new single from Ghost Singers. A collective from around the world, selected by Scottish songwriter Brian O’Neill, they comprise some of the best talent YouTube has to offer. <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Ghost Singers is a troupe of artists from all over, including Brazil, Canada, Spain, South Africa, Scotland, and Australia. If that wasn’t enough to get you listening, then perhaps the incredible story of the man behind it all will. Brian O’Neill had been hit by a train, resulting in him breaking most of his bones. Mental health issues, notably schizophrenia, led Brian to attempt suicide several times, but he nonetheless survived, and instead was inspired to create something very special in Ghost Singers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Remember When I’, performed by Beloved Abe, a singer-songwriter based in Melbourne, Australia, is the first song to be released by the collective, and is from their upcoming album, ‘Schizophrenic Lovesick Blues’, due out later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beloved Abe’s ethereal vocals are entrancing and pure, reflecting the softness of the accompanying acoustic guitar, strings, and percussion instrumental. There’s a certain Nick Cave-ness about the track, a darkness, strongly held deep emotion. It’s beautiful and tragic; relatable yet elusive. The finger picking guitar feels like a master class in how to invoke sadness, while the violin soar, birdlike, above the notes of despair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The video for ‘Remember When I’ is equally gothic, with its muted tones, sepia, blacks and whites. There’s an overwhelming sense of death, or at least the longing for it, and the feeling of contentment with knowing it will come some day.<\/p>\n\n\n
