Out today, ‘We Multiply’ is the new single from Austin’s Name Sayers<\/a>, and their fourth to drop from from their new album, ‘Joyboys In The Grindhouse’, also out today. <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Produced by Grammy nominee Grant Eppley, along with the band themselves, Hen House Recording in Austin, ‘We Multiply’ combines elements of psych rock, and synth pop, and has a distinct retro feel to it, reminiscent of the 80s sound of Ultravox, Psychedelic Furs, and New Order. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With taut lyrics and stunningly talented instrumentals, ‘We Multiply’ tells the story of going out in an RV and having a little bit of a “self-medicating” experience; their description of the event is so evocative that you wouldn’t need to do it yourself. The tones of frontman Devin James Fry stand aloft over the guitar and drum heavy instrumentals; powerful but not autocratic – every member of the band plays their part and is given their moment to shine.The “we multiply” of the title refers to a kaleidoscopic effect that occurs in the light of the torch: “in the glass eye we multiply”, and the backing vocals emerge in such a way as to aurally illustrate the effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather than make a video to show what’s going on in the song, Name Sayers have chosen instead to allow the lyrics to speak for themselves, and instead their clip shows the band performing in their rehearsal space. Light still plays a part however, with subdued, often at times red, light giving the video a mellow feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
