Released on May 26, ‘focus’ is the latest track for alternative pop artist, Kavai. Growing up Kavai started honing his musical talents in his sophomore year of high school, by writing songs to Drake’s instrumentals. By the time he got to his junior year of college, he was ready to hit the mic, recording with his dorm roommates. <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

From that point on it seemed like things moved along quickly – releasing tracks on SoundCloud meant they were developing an audience, and from there they found their music was being played at house parties. Kavai, for one, certainly found his true calling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kavai’s new track, ‘focus’, is a swift moving track that skilfully blends hip hop, pop, alternative, and indie influences. His smooth vocals are perfectly matched to the guitar and percussive instrumentals, and while the track is just under 2 minutes long, it’s enough to get a grip on without, well, without losing focus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The song tells the story of trying to completely break away from someone who had completely captured your heart – no matter what you do to break ties – block their phone number, unfollow them on social media or whatever: they’re still on your mind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s a cautionary tale that we can all relate to – we’ve all been through times when we’ve needed to quit relationships that were holding us back, but you’ve got to stay focused on what’s most important right now. In Kavai’s case it’s building up his career, and he knows if he lets himself lose focus he’ll be right back where he started again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
