Donae’o broke onto the UK music scene in the early 2000s, with his fusion of Ghanaian and Guyanese sounds into his beats. He’s pretty much risen to National Treasure status, his music having rocked the London club scene for the best part of the last two decades. Meanwhile, OG Relli started out around the same time, with his performances at, and hosting of, The Jump Off, at London’s historic Scala venue, very much the heart of the City’s hip-hop battle scene. <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

With his own Guyanese and Ghanaian heritage, as well as some Jamaican in the mix, OG Relli was the perfect match for Donae’o, and when the pair began to text once more last year, they discovered a connection in their shared heritage, their passions, and aims for their music – and it all naturally coalesced into the incredibly contagious track that is ‘Swaggy’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An Afro-Caribbean track, ‘Swaggy’ is an absolute bop, and is certainly club-ready with its low rolling beat that calls to mind much of the early 2000s Funky House times. The pair recollect their shared joys: getting some money, dressing swaggy, and most of all the food – particularly jollof and ackee. It’s a track that people will find relatable, no matter where they live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The music video for ‘Swaggy’ takes a step further and has a deep dive into the lives of Donae’o and OG Relli. While there’s gorgeously shot scenes of shoes, chains, and of course, red carpets, it’s clear that these artists don’t just value the “stuff”, but they put more stock into the true things in life – such as who makes the better jollof. ‘Swaggy’ is infectious and at times hilarious, and after watching the video, you’ll be wanting to fill up your bowl with some of that delicious food – don’t get aggy – get swaggy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
