‘The People We Keep’ is the new single from UK entertainment figure, Shane Board. Featuring vocals from Coronation Street actress Harriet Bibby, the track, which was released on June 2nd, is the 8th from Shane, was released to coincide with Diabetes Week. <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“it’s about the people you meet in your life and how everyone you meet has a purpose, some are meant for a reason, some are just for a season but the most important ones are the ones that change your life”.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Shane, from Poole, in South England, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was only 10 years old, and although it changed his life forever and had a profound impact on his family, he didn’t allow it to define him, and instead, he made the decision that it would have only a positive impact on him. This can be seen by the fact that these days, he’s an actor, a singer, a songwriter, and also, a fundraiser whose mission is to find a cure for Diabetes, raising as much money towards that cause as he can, along the way. When he was still a child, Shane was driven by such a desire to help those who would be diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in the future, that he asked his mother what he could do. Together they set up a parent group at their local hospital, which is still going strong today. When he was 16, Shane moved on to an adult clinic, and so his mission expanded. He established Pop 4 Diabetes<\/a>, a non-profit fundraising organisation, which supports three different Diabetes charities, and through which Shane aims to raise awareness, offer support, and advocate for advancements in diabetes management and care.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A track with a meaningful message and a country music twist, ‘The People We Keep’ was produced by BRIT Award winner, Simon Ellis, best known for his work with S Club 7, Spice Girls, and Westlife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joining Shane on ‘The People We Keep’, is Coronation Street actress, Harriet Bibby. Harriet, whose character Summer Spellman was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2021, provides the perfect counterpoint vocally to Shane, with ‘The People We Keep’ an upbeat country-pop song, which Shane’s musical inspirations, Brad Paisley, and Keith Urban. The track comes with a music video, that follows the story of a young couple who go back in time, visiting an old mansion where they discover all the people who had since passed away, yet they were kept alive in their minds. “In life we will meet those who make us complete \/ lift us back on our feet \/ these are the people we keep”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One such person who had a deep impact on Shane was Lynwood Newman, who died in 2021 after a short battle with cancer. Lynwood had Type 2 Diabetes, and spent his life helping and supporting others with Diabetes in the local area, including Shane. Lynwood was certainly one of the “people we keep”, and Shane dedicates the song to Lynwood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, Shane was able to record the song with thanks to Abbott Diabetes Care, one of the world\u2019s leading brands in the development and marketing of medical products and provides a comprehensive range of blood glucose monitoring systems for diabetics in the UK and globally. He was sponsored by the organisation DEAP<\/a>, who provide Diabetes education for children diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
