Sometimes it takes an outsider to show us what our faults are. While self-absorption isn’t a trait unique to those in the US, it feels as though Americans take this to new extremes. Swiss rock singer and songwriter MattO clearly loves both America and Americans, and so it’s with both bemusement and compassion he turns his satirical pen on the US, in his latest single, ‘It’s All About Me’.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Recorded at the Lakehouse, in Ashbury Park, New Jersey, ‘It’s All About Me’ is a portrait of an American, striving to be a success, who has turned his back on his neighbour and is chasing his own goals. It’s a witty character study, while not being malicious or contemptible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The video for ‘It’s All About Me’ focuses on the words of the song, a lyric video created by MattO’s frequent collaborator, Marcello Bumbica. The confessions of the narrator are super-imposed over images of MattO at work on his music, surrounded by his instruments, as well as shots of the glass towers of New York, and the steel bridges of New Jersey. It’s an ideal backdrop for a dramatic story about American enterprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
